Fauldhouse schools to close early amidst severe storm warnings
All Fauldhouse schools will close to pupils at 12pm today (Thursday, December 8) due to the impact of severe weather.
The decision has been made by West Lothian Council with the safety of pupils the key priority after the Met Office issued a red alert warning of wind.
Severe storm-force winds are expected to batter the area and there is even a possibility of snow later on.
Head Teachers will send a Groupcall message to parents/carers to advise them of the 12pm school closure and the need to make suitable arrangements for their children.
A West Lothian Council spokesperson apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closures.
The spokesperson said: "The decision to close schools and disrupt education is always a difficult one, but safety has to be the priority.
“Early weather forecasts suggested West Lothian might escape the full impact of the winds until after regular school finishing times.
“However, updated local forecast information now indicates the strong winds will arrive in West Lothian earlier than previously expected, so closing schools early is the prudent course of action.
“We would like to thanks parents/carers for their understanding in these difficult circumstances.”
Parents should also note that all Simply Play out of school clubs across West Lothian will be closed this afternoon due to extreme weather.
