Fauldhouse residents urged to recycle Christmas trees
Recycle your Christmas tree in Fauldhouse – that’s the message from West Lothian Council.
The council want to stress to residents that if trees are put out with normal rubbish, they will end up in a landfill site.
To recycle your real Christmas tree, make sure you remove any decorations first and then cut it up, place it inside your brown (garden waste) bin, making sure the lid can be fully closed.
Make sure you don’t place your Christmas tree beside your brown bin as it will not be collected.
Robert De Bold, Executive Councillor for the Environment, said: "Please remember that your real Christmas tree can be recycled in your brown recycling bin if it is cut into manageable sections first (decorations removed), and then placed in your garden waste bin.
“Please refer to your existing brown bin calendar to identify your brown bin collection day.
"To help our staff, please make sure your bin is at the kerbside by 7am (6am on Saturdays), with all the waste inside and the bin lid fully closed, or we may not be able to empty it."
As brown bin collection has been suspended due to extreme weather conditions, collections between Monday, January 2 and Saturday, January 7, will now take place on the corresponding day next week – e.g., uplifts due Monday, January 2 will now take place Monday, January 9.
All brown bin uplifts due week commencing Monday, January 9 will be carried out as per calendar schedule.
Locals are encouraged to take any excess waste or recyclables to your nearest Community Recycling Centre at Whitburn.
