Picture House Fauldhouse.

 I remember the Saturday Matinee films there.It only sat about 300 people at it's maximum capacity - tiny compared with the multiplex cinemas now!!.It was7 pence to get in,2pence for coo toffee ,we sucked it all the way through the movie,the first movie i can remember was The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Coming Features appeared on a board in the foyer and the queue for opening night of 'Jaws' came out of the Savoy and snaked past the shops and down the lane to the bowling club.  I remember going to see Ben Hur on a Saturday night and it was completely packed.  One kind usherette gave me her little seat at the end of the back row. Like Margaret, we used to go and see the Saturday matinee and when the lights dimmed, we all stamped our feet.  We often sneaked up to the 'balcony' by slipping under the rope when no one was looking  sshhhh! don't tell anyone :)
